Looks like the necessarily small upload limit and associated site processing algorithms are going to take their toll on the imbedded images.
The site won't let me link to an image on my website until I have made some unspecified number of posts, but would that allow linking to a larger image or Dows the same more or less 500- kb limit still apply?

there is a anti-spam protection of the software. You need tompost first a few postuings without links in it, before you get automatically the ability to post links
