Flash Photography

I am looking for a decent flash unit for a Leica R4. I found a Minolta Maxum 400A with an impressive list of features. Upon initial inspection, the shoe of the flash unit is incompatible with the shoe mount on the camara body (R4). Do I need to purchase a TTL adapter so that I can the flash with the R4. If so, can you recommend one.

Sal, the R4 doesn't have any TTL flash metering capability. I use a Vivitar 283 on my R4sP.
