Give your suggestion US E6 processing plus

Hello all,
This would be a great place to tell eachother about the photo lab you like best in the US. What services do you buy from them, how's the quality, price ballpark etc. Who wants to start the ball rolling?

I'd add one myself, but I'm lab shopping. I had the name of one I really wanted try, but lost it! They were located in California (works via Mail order) were a full service pro lab, and also offered the Fuji Frontier stuff. I think they were started by two photographers who were sick of getting bad lab work. If anyone knows who this might be, let me know pls! I'm looking for good E-6 processing and mounting for Fuji and Agfa mostly. Would love to get a scan to disk at time of processing too (frontier quality is fine). (The california lab that I lost track of offered this for about US$20 or so)

Thanks,
Lynn

The very best E-6 (not to mention B&W, plus B&W prints and Ilfochrome work) I have ever had the pleasure to receive has come in my own bathroom via a Jobo CPP-2, Tetenal & Ilford chemical, Glenwoood Inglewood distilled water, and my own TLC.

> Thanks very much Diane. That is a much better deal than buying direct. I like that B&H don't impose a minimum order. If anyone else is looking for these mailers on B&H, I just did a search within B&H for: A&I Mailer

Belated thanks to Nikki for recommending A&I Lab. I've used them on two occasions to develop approx. 20 rolls of print film. I'm very pleased with their work and will continue to send my film to them.

Just another piece of info about A&I. Their E-6 processing is pretty good, BUT, they mount slider in carton frames, not plastic, thus resulting in more lint and difficulties using them in projector.

Their color negative development and printing is pretty good. If you use mailers, you can include a note whether you want it printed on Frontier or regular optical printer (no extra charge). Never done B&W processing at A&I, so don't know if they're good or not. Not a bad place for B&W development and printing is www.mylab.com

I have been using A&I for a while, but recently their quality seems to be slipping (could be because they got bought by another lab). So, I wonder if anyone has any recommendations for a good professional lab that would do E-6, real B&W and C41 processing as well? Or three different labs, each specializing in C41, E-6 and B&W respectively?

Thanks.

One update on A&I. They no longer have optical printers (at least for 4x6" proof prints). Everything is now printed digitally.

For B&W they don't do real B&W proof prints at all anymore, because 4x6 paper they were using for that was made by Kodak and Kodak in its infinite wisdom discontinued it. So, the best you can do at A&I with your B&W film now is ask for a contact sheet. If you ask for 4x6" proof prints they will be made on Frontier on a regular color paper - results are horrible.

So, the only two remaining high-quality Black and White labs that I'm aware of are MV Labs in New York and Schulman Photo Lab in Los Angeles:
