Hi All,

Though I have dozens of flies in my stock, they are fascinating again and again. So different they are in colours and sizes.

This one I shot yesterday. ENJOY.

Nice picture, I've seen some of your other pictures of flies, and they are all good!

So perhaps I can ask you some things...

the equipment used was my SD14, the 70mm macro, and a lot of sunlight.

What would you recommend if I want to take better pictures of insects? ( Equipment that would help, methods, etc... )

I have a 100-300mm lens, perhaps I could use it with some macro-tubes... Which macro tubes should I buy then?

I'm not just asking Klaus, if anyone else has some ideas, feel free to post!

It would be nice if the Lens electronic contacts were supported.

Since I have an Orion 90mm Ø Maksutov Cassegrain, Focal Length 1250mm @ f13.9, I'm considering trying out these macro tubes:

I like your first shot. Nicely taken!

you should try to shoot insects from the "eye to eye" perspective! Do not shoot them from a "superiour" perspective ... they then will look much more impressive!

@ Stephany .....

You cannot buy SIGMA SA-Macro tubes anywhere. Nevertheless, I have them! you can make them yourself.

It is a very good idea, to use flashlight in the macro-range.

Thanks for the advice! I know very well that it is best to take the pictures from a low point when taking photos of birds, but I often forget it when taking photos of insects.

I've read the threads before, but I must forgot about the tubes. The bellows is a bit harder to forget. It is inspiring to read about your projects. I would like to attempt to make something like that myself, but I don't have the parts required. I wouldn't like to disassemble a working SD14 camera. But if I find some parts later I might try it.

I have some old m42 macro-tubes which I might try, but then I can't use my sigma lenses.
