Many members at the DPR have expressed in different threads that they are looking for these two features when searching for a forum.

1. Separate M4/3 forum for panasonic and olympus users
2. A separate bird photography forum from nature and wildlife forum

Would it be possible to modify the M4/3 and wildlife forum.

Hi nikpharm,

yes, of course.

As we said elsewhere, nothing is set in stone. We have choosen the exact structure of the old dpreview forum, to make the transition easier and smother for the old dpreview users.

As soon as things settle a little bit, we will discuss here with everybody, what you would like to have changed/ added/ moved/ deleted.

I would be suprised if a forum structure, that exists already for such a long time could not be improved somehow. ;)

But I do not want to make quick shots, just to please someone. This will influence also others, so we will discuss all this in a few weeks will all members. :z04-bier01:

.
Do you have a DPR link for that one. Wouldn't mind taking a look at that. Was it in the ..... "Nature and wildlife photography" forum or some other forum on DPR?

That's a bit like saying, could we separate turtles from bears please, or whales from lions :) It's not FM forums surely.

Danny.

As the former moderator for the DPR, Olympus and Panasonic forums, I agree that having a single DPR forum for everything was very confusing. More than once I had to move threads about Panasonic Lumix M43 gear posted in the Panasonic compact forum, or Olympus OM-D posted on the Olympus 43s forum. So having them separated will help greatly.

We both know that there were polls in there and voting, what was the decision made by the members Martin? Even the DPR admin, Simon it was said after an early poll, that the forum was to be kept as the m4/3 forum and not seperated because that's what the majority wanted. At the end of the day even here, it should come down to maybe another vote or poll by the members. Let them decide what they want.

Personally because you can mix and mingle Oly lenses on Panasonic bodies, or panasonic lenses on Oly bodies (or OMD I should say) then exactly where do you have a weekly image thread. In the Oly forum or the Panasonic forum, or do they each have one. For me it's just a box because I use Canon lenses on them anyway. So where would I post, maybe in the Canon forum :)

All the best Martin and good to see you here.

Danny.

Here is the link for wildlife forum. you can read the whole thread.

Here is the link for separate M4/3 forum and you can read the whole thread.

And here is the link for acknowledgement by the DPRevived to have separate forums for panasonic and olympus M4/3 forum.

I'm not seeing it from 5 months old threads and have you ever posted images in the nature forum?. You need more than just a few posters out of how many.
How exactly do you expect people to separate their posts if they post birds, turtles and snakes all in the same post and yes, I know some that do. You want them to separate their posts now. You don't even post images in there.

M4/3 forum I've been in there since the first mirrorless camera came out, the Panasonic G1, I bought one. So I know that forum rather well. So you have posted in there how many times?

Here's the latest poll on splitting the forum from a year ago.

So maybe, you should just worry about the forums you are actually in. Show me the many you mention.

You are absolutely right, @nzmacro , and regarding that poll, I feel that most people answered to leave it alone since it has been for years a dead horse topic. And while I do consider one of the main advantages of m43 is to mix and match with other manufacturers, having the option of an m43 forum and also separate oly and panny provides people with enough space to discuss topics exclusive to their own manufacturers. For example, I own nowadays mostly Panasonic gear, but 5 years ago, was the complete opposite. Mostly Olympus.

In any regard, I'd support the consensus. If you want to leave it as one single forum, I'll be happy all the same. Less places to moderate ;)

Thanks for the overzealous, energetic and excited reply. :)

The request for separate M4/3 forum for Panasonic people is from a poll currently going on in the Site Feedback Forum at DPReview.

The request for a separate forum for bird photography is from a thread which is 5 months old which means that the members in the Wildlife Forum were worried about the declining activity in the forum even 5 months ago and time has proved that it kept declining ever since.

After objecting to a 5 month old thread, you quoted a poll which is one year old. I wonder why Olympus group is so scared as to give Panasonic group a separate forum.

DPR is closing down and 30% of the members from M4/3 want a separate Panasonic forum. DPRevived have already listened to their request. I don't think its a good idea for a new forum which has just started, to tell someone to just go to the other forum: we don't want you.

I have never posted any image in any forum due to reasons you will not be able to comprehend.

Dirk reply was very legitimate and understandable.
