Can you help? I want to by Nikon Nikkor AF-S 17-55 mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX but someone suppose that Nikon Nikkor AF-S 17-35 mm f/2.8D IF-ED much better?

I'll be interested in the responses to this as well.

In other forums it is about 50 / 50 on these lenses.

I have the 17-35 and think it is an excellent lens. You will not be disappointed with it if you get it. I have not tried the 17-55.

Hello good evening @ all

The above mentioned lenses are not covering the same range - because there is:

Nikkor AF-S 17-55 mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX optimised for DX cameras and the sensor.

Nikon Nikkor AF-S 17-35 mm f/2.8D IF-ED

Both are IF Lenses with a f/2.8 - and IMHO there is no difference in the output quality (i'm using them both on different bodies).

kind regards from France

Walter

Regarding the previous post, DX format means it will not work on full frame cameras. Many ppl are speculating that Nikon might switch to full frame instead of the current 1.5X crop factor for new professional DSLRs, then 17-55 will not really work on them.
