4528 Distagon rare

Hi all,

I just saw one of these go on ebay for $685, and I'm wondering if it's because it's rarer than the 45/2.8 Tessar, or better, or both. It's certainly bigger!

Adam, I think the Distagon you saw is an auto focus lens for the 645 medium format Contax. Adorama Camera in NY sells them for around US$2200 new. The 45 f2.8 Tessar sells for US$320.

Adam, a Tessar for RTS should be available at about € 150 - 200, not more (IMHO) . The Distagon IS a medium format lens. Or You try an east german Tessar Carl Zeiss Jena with M42 screw mount. Should be avaliable for about € 50,-- or even less.
