Yes it is a Sigma 70-300mm D DL lens...the mount looks to be Nikon...

http://www.shutterbug.com/content/sigma-af-70-300mm-f4-56-dl-macro
Some info about the lens...

This is what the Nikon mount looks like..so you can verify it...

The lens I want to say is an early 2000's lens...like 2002-2005 production...may be older...there were two different verions of this lens...your's and a II...the II had different rubber pattern...look up the lenses on Google...

Seems like you either got a good copy or a bad copy there was not inbetween...

Hope this helps....

Thank you I appreciate the information and the time you have taken

Not a problem...I hope it helps you out...

On another note...what are you looking to use the lens for...what is your price point...and what camera system will it be for....

Maybe I can point you in a right direction...

I got it for £44.00/$60.00 from an auction site and I intend using it with Nikon D70. I am a relative newbie to this having only used a bridge(HS20) up till now

Should be a good lens for the D70...Ha I had one way back when...on my D70 that is now my sister-in-law's....good lens...the nice thing I like it has a metal mount instead of the cheapy plastic one's now...

If your D70 battery gets to one charge mark...the lens will start focusing slow...so keep your battery charged...another thing that helps with D70...use a 30mbs or 40mbs...

The D70 is a great camera...

Good Luck....Tony C.
