Canon Scanner MPC400 poor after sales support

Hi,
Has anyone out there had any experience of this printer scanner (all-in-one. The scans I get are terrible with scan lines like railway tracks. Canon rep says it is with specification parameters. Any comments from anyone with similar machine or similar experience.

since posting the above, Canon have, after much noise from me, exchanged the MPC400 with a MPC600F but I am still having the same problems. Aparently the drivers are for w98; win 2000 or win NT but not specifically for win XP.
Does anyone have similar problems with this range (400 or 600) or know of any fixes? I do believe this is more a software problem than a problem with the hardware. I am desperate as the scans on dark photos are terrible (multiple vertical lines in the scan) and I don't want to have to buy another machine.

Thanks

Hilary K

Hi,Hilary.
I am not familiar with this particular model that you have-But sounds to me as though it`s a printer fault--What dpi are you printing at(720-1440.?.-Also have you done a head cleaning run or two? and a nozzle check?

If you are printing a lot of photographs you realy have the wrong type of machine-As any do all type of equipment is a compromise (Sp?) Let me know how you get on.
