Maybe it's not photography but rather image making instead. If nothing else it's a very useful tool (when it works) to deal with some of the common issues that crop up in photography.

I agree AI can be useful as you say, and I suppose AI can be used for good and for bad. I do think it has the potential to further blur the authenticity of images meant to be documentary. I guess this isn't a new issue, since about 1982 when National Geographic moved two pyramids closer together so they'd better fit the cover. And no doubt many interesting photo manipulations before that.
