Contax NAM-1 Adapter

Guest

I just got a demo NAM-1 from a dealer. But the auto focus is constantly out of focus slightly from the viewfinder. Is it normal?

No, it should be perfectly in focus.

First, check that your diopter is set correctly: Take the lens (and NAM-1) off the camera, point the camera at a flat white surface and look at the circle on the viewfinder to make sure it is as crisp and clear as possible.

If that is okay, next check focus by viewing a perfectly flat subject like a test chart or poster with type. Make absolutely sure you are square on to the subject and on a tripod. Shoot with the lens wide open.

Thanks Marc and Kaisern for your tips. I re-checked the diopter and it is still out of focus when I use the NAM-1. I am very confused. When I use my N1 with both 24/85 and 70/300, they are nice and crisp. And when I use the 80mm lens on the C645, it is also nice and crisp.

I guess the next step is to exchange for a brand new NAM-1 to find out what the problem is. But I could not image an adapter can cause out of fouce problem.

Thanks again.
