Dragonflies...

Hi All,

Today, I managed to shoot two different dragonflies. :)

A thing that should be mentioned .... I did not use a real macro-lens but I went for the SIGMA 18-200mm DC (the old version still without the optical stabilizer). Certainly, I used our SIGMA SA automatic bellows.

Well, image quality is outstanding, which I would not have thought before ... but have a look yourself....;)

Hi Klaus,
very nice shots.
Again an impressive demonstration of your skills.
I never even come close to that :z02_respekt:

SD9 ISO100/Bellows/SIGMA18-200mm (@200mm)/Flash-METZ 34-CS-2

Free Hand Makros are really hard work. It is quite exhausting to hold the camera that precisely. Yesterday, taking this picture, I ricked my back. It awfully hurts now ....:z04_head_wall:

So ... keep yourselves healthy :z04_yes:!

See you with nice pictures

Hi All,

well yesterday I was lucky for this shot ... right in my garden. :)

After some "investigation" I think it is a female broad bodied chaser (dragonfly).

SD9 / Bellows / SIGMA 18-200mm DC (@144mm) / Metz 34-CS-2 flashlight!

Apperture was f:13

Hi Uwe,

yes indeed. :)

I would like to add three shots which I first thought to be a failure.
I took them under awkward light conditions. In fact it was severe frontlighting.
When I shot them, I was quite sure that these shots would go wrong. No film-camera would probably have managed to make a convenient picture from it. Another camera-position was impossible ... my shoes were already wet in the pond.:D
Well, I simply tried to make the best of it ...and ... I was very surprised really.

As the shots looked ugly first on my monitor ... I was really "weirded out", how things developed, when playing with the different sliders of SPP. Next I did some polishing with PS and finally with RAW PHOTO STUDIO ... well have a look.

It is ruddy darters (a medium sized sort of dragonflies) I got here.
