Not a very common sight around here.
 
It's called Ringelnatter in Germany. Translates to Grass Snake. Seems it was waiting for a fror or the like.

Ah, a European grass snake. It's a colubrid snake quite similar to an American garter snake. They're all quite harmless.

Unless of course you're a frog. ;)
 
By the way, it was done with the Nikon Z 24-200 at f/9 and 200mm. Then I had to crop it to about 300mm. I would even say a further crop would be better to like 400mm as below. For those images, I wished I had stayed with MFT, where a 400mm equivalent lens is no problem to buy and carry. But I too rarely do this. I was looking for a wider landscape shot at that point.
