Iam going ski-ing in Jackson for a couple of weeks at the end on the month. Has anybody any advice about good photographic locations, wildlife etc. and is motor car hire a good idea or not necessary?

> Here is a general advisory regarding film and travel. We all know that film should not be put through with checked baggage. Unfortunately, in a moment of mental weakness, I put twenty rolls of Kodak 400 in my baggage while flying out of Logan Airport, Boston coming come to Sacramento. When I realized what I had done, I called Kodak and they advised me that the film probably had not survived the high energy xrays used for screening of checked baggage. I shot a test roll in an old Contax IIA that was recently restored. The results were "acceptable" but the d-min (i.e. base fog level) on the unexposed parts of the film was clearly noticeable. The shots I tested were really only to test the transport and shutter of the camera so I cannot say definitively if normal negs shot outdoors or with flash would have been affected. I am shooting another roll of stuff around the neighborhood in an N65 and will report my results when they are processed and printed. At least I wasn't dumb enough to put my eighteen rolls of exposed film in my luggage in London in October (lol).

I haven't been to Jackson Hole in January but when I was there in one October, I remember seeing that there is some sort of large Elk reserve just outside Jackson Hole. Apparently during the winter the elk congregate there. I saw some gorgeous pictures of elk in the snow. If you get a chance you may want to check it out.
