LCD display info

The LCD display on top of my new EOS 10d only shows info when I change settings such as white balance and ISO. Surely it should show photographic info for each shot? Anyone had a similar problem?
 
The LCD display should come on and show info when you slightly press the shutter button. It also shows the info of the last shot such as f stop and shutter speed, etc. for a few seconds after a picture is taken.
