Leaf shedding ice coat

This was taken two ice storms ago using only UV light. Kolari Vision modified full spectrum Pentax K-1 with old metal Nikon EL-NIKKOR 80mm enlarging lens. Used Hoya U360 2mm thick/ Schott S8612 2mm thick AR coated filter stack. ISO 100 F6.3 120 seconds. With such long exposures, I was afraid the ice would slip all the way off the leaf.

K1 is a fantastic camera indeed. Yes I have one and love it to bits over my canon Nikon cameras for many reasons. EG two SD card slots. DNG FILES.

Interesting photo and even more interesting with the back story and the enlarging lens.

K1 is a fantastic camera indeed. Yes I have one and love it to bits over my canon Nikon cameras for many reasons. EG two SD card slots. DNG FILES.

The EL-Nikkor enlarging lens is an affordable way to do UV photography. They were designed to transmit UV light for B&W printing. Most glass and lenses pass little UV light. A real UV lens like the Ultra Achromatic Takumar 85mm or Nikon/Rayfact UV 105 Nikkor use all quartz lens elements. There is no glass. A new 105 is over $6,000.

So, I soldier on with the enlarging lens and a few "accidental UV" camera lenses. They tend to have few elements and no balsam, with single or no coatings.

You love your K1?
But you reach for caNikon when you actually take photographs.
That's an amazing example of gearhead fanboyism.
The modern day Nikon has two slots as does canon.
You emphasise how superb the Canon 135 and Nikon 105 are.
Oh yes they are.
Well they were both superb lenses when you were busy spending a small fortune on collecting every Pentax ever made.
Where are the superb pentax lenses?
As for AF if your D700 is failing in the AF department then may it needs a service.
Many second hand examples have been heavily used and abused.
To be honest quality glass is a waste anyway on the images you prefer to take. They are not an example of quality in any shape or form..
