No-one's fault really, but i just bought from Ffordes, UK, my second Leica MP body on October 14th. It was advertised as with free motor wind - this turned out to be an error on their website. I always use Ffordes -spent many thousands over the years - and this is the first problem I have had.
Telephoned Leica the day after the body had been delivered to ask about the motor wind, and was told the offer had been discontinued at the end of September.
Leica were so helpful. Delightful lady at the other end. She asked me to write in with the passport applications, saying what the problem is. I thought it might take a week or two.
Had a surprise parcel today (the day after the phone call). Yes, it was a free motor winder!
To be fair, I have about £12000 of Leica equipment, most of it new, all registered, so I am obviously a good Leica customer. I don't begrudge the money. For service like this the cost is worth it, the passport, and a great set of dealers (Ffordes definitely included - as a valued customer, a couple of weeks ago they sold me a new 50mm Summicron chrome for the price of a black one).
Incidentally I'm not rich. Love the MP so much that I'm about to Ebay a Hasselblad XPan II (feels awful compared to the Leica, but OK in its place and for the occasional panoramic I suppose) and an M5. Might keep the IIIf, which has produced great results, and I won't get too much for.
