M8 and Infrared

Winter was long and a difficult time to get good infrared images. Well spring is here and I took out my M8 for some infrared.
The rapids on the Ompompanoosuc River.

I bought a used M8 several years ago, originally for IR, but the color response grabbed me too. I use a digital CL mostly, but maybe I am babying the M8, no other camera like it. I had a few M lenses so a good start. Best of luck to you, you will enjoy it. Do get IR/UV cut filters for doing color, greens and blacks under certain light are not trustworthy, but great with the filter, I use B+W IR/UV cut filters.

Leica M8 with an Orange Filter. This leaves the Blue channel sensitive to Infrared only. Boost the Green and Blue channels to the same level as Red, and Swap Blue and Red in the DNG.
This uses the "Button Dance" and M8RAW2DNG to get full 14-bit DNG files to work with.

I shot one roll of Infrared Ektachrome E-3 process some 50 years ago. This got fairly close to that look.

For green in most light and black fabrics under tungsten light, with this image, left no filter, right with a B+W 486 UV-IR cut sunlight/open shade.
