Memory door interferance with CF card

I feel all alone with no company on this forum.
I just got my new 5050 and a new 256 meg compact flash card which seems to fit in the slot fine. The problem is that when the card is seated all the way in it pushes out the eject button to the point where the cover won’t close and latch. If the cover is forced in it pushes the card out. What am I missing or need to do? Thinking of grinding off the end of the button or drill a hole in the cover, but am sure that will end the warranty. Beside sending it in for repair and being without it for a extended period, any suggestions? Many times I don’t see the trees in the forest. TIA and BE WELL.

If it works like the CF slot on my Minolta Dimage 7i--and different compa= nies often buy specialized hardware bits like this from the same suppliers--th= e eject button can be folded over. Try that first. And if all else fails, read = the instructions. =

Thanks for the reply. I took your advice and rtfm. Didn't think putting in a memory card was high tech. Any way if the card is put in then sort of ejected and pressed back in, the mechanism acts sort of like a ball point pen retraction mech. Anyway I can close the door now. I guess they DON'T KISS. Just something else to malfunction, job security for someone.

The CF socket is very weak. It's easy to bend its pins introducing a card. When a pin is bended, the eject button has this behavior.

Is there a way to prevent "It's easy to bend its pins introducing a card" ?? It looks like a non control issue.

Vic.
I don't know if "to bend" is the correct word. The idea is: if you don't plug the CF card carefully in, you could break (squash, crush) the socket pins.

When a pin is broken, you can't place the CF card neither the eject button correctly, and the cover don't close.

My solution, after getting a big fright, was acquire a 128M Smartmedia card for carrying and don't unplug the CF card if not absolutely necessary. If I need to carry some photos in a card, I use the Smartmedia.
