New Firmware upgrades for select lenses and camera bodies?

Yesterday I found out that there was a variety of lens firmware upgrades. In my case I own the 16-55mm, 100-400mm, and the 50-140mm that were on the list. Not on the compatible camera bodies needing the lens firmware upgrade were my XPro-3 and XH-1. Not surprising as these bodies have been discontinued.

However, I called Fujifilm USA and the support person said I could give the upgrades a try with my current lenses and bodies (not officially listed as accepting the firmware upgrade to the lenses I own. The support person said the firmware was aimed at fixing problems that included users not getting the full use of the newer sensors.

The support person said I could try to do the upgrade on my lenses. He wasn't sure if there was in fact some benefit to it. I tried, but my XH-1 LCD screen said it could not locate the lens firmware upgrade for my 16-55mm. Oddly the downloaded upgrade showed to folders with one file in each folder. I don't really remember in officially compatible firmware upgrades ever contained two folders.

At this point I gave up as I didn't want to brick my camera bodies. I really not complaining, as I know my XPro-3 and XH-1 have been discontinued. I'm guessing their older sensor don't need what the current firmware is trying to fix.

Has anyone else out there tried the new lens firmware upgrades on Fujifilm camera bodies that are not on the official "supported" list? Just wondering. I'm holding out for the Fujifilm Summit to see if there is a new XPro3. If not I may give the XT-5 a shot, and sell the XH-1. Frankly I don't see me leaving the XPro line, even if what I own has been discontinued.

I did the firmware updates for my GFX lenses, but they do not have any specific camera body requirements. I also checked the firmware files for your lenses, for 50-140mm it downloads just one file, same for 100-400mm, only two files for 16-55mm. Both my lens firmware had two files, and I had to put both files in the memory card, not the folder, just the .DAT files. It worked fine, but since they specified camera bodies, the firmwares may not work for you.

All they fixes are minor noise issues in lenses and aperture optimizations. I hardly notice any differences after upgrading.

Many thanks! I'll try pulling the files out of the folders and then onto my memory card. Note, I think the files were .Zip files. Were yours. Note I have an Apple Mac.

Mine were, I extracted them. We need the .DAT files in the memory card, no folders. See if this works :)

Many thanks!!! I don’t remember them coming in a .Zip files in the past. Ha, my “old” camera updates have been awhile!
