Hi Folks,
I am going to New York next week from UK ,can anyone recommend a good lab for dip and dunk C41 and black and white processing.
Thanks
Geraint

Geraint,

You're somewhat in luck.

New York City is home to best Black & White lab in the USA. It's called MV Labs.

Here is their website:
http://www.mvlabs.com/index.html

And contact info:

33 Little West 12th St. #204
New York City NY 10014
tel 212 929 3036 fax 212 929 3149

As far as C41 is concerned there is one really good lab also in Manhattan called Green Rhino.

Here is their website:

http://www.greenrhinoinc.com/

And contact info:

37 West 28th Street (between Broadway and Sixth Avenue)
New York, NY 10001

Phone: 212-686-0066
Fax: 212-686-0050

Now, both labs are not cheap. But since you're traveling from UK I presume you want your films processed properly and not botched

Also, keep in mind that Green Rhino doesn't do 4x6" proofs. When you develop film there the best you can do is to ask for enlarged contact sheet. Regular size contact sheets are $11 in addition to development cost, enlarged ones are $28. So, it's up to you whether it's worth it or not. I personally think that regular size contact sheet is sufficient, because if you wanted some 4x6" prints you could do it later anywhere else, but if you want high quality enlargements Green Rhino is the ticket because they specialize in C41, they don't do anything else. And it's a small lab, which means they pay attention to what they do and will be more than happy to do whatever you want them to do.

Good luck and have a nice trip!
