No viewfinder display on RTSIII

I was given an RTSIII play with and, while almost everything seems to work, there is no display at all in the viewfinder. I have run a test roll through and using Av, changing aperture on each shot , they came out perfectly.

I thought perhaps there might be a custom function as in the RX, which allows you to turn off the viewfinder display, but I can't find any reference to such functions on the RTSIII.

Has anybody come across this problem, or is it simply an electronic fault that most likely can't be fixed?

Thanks

It's a well-known problem, sadly, but as far as I know there is a guy in East France who has worked on a solution. He is a Contax/Yashica repairman who works in his private workshop. He has serviced all of my 11 Contax / Yashica camera bodies and has done a good job. (I don't have an RTS III however.)
Once I learned from one of his customers that his RTS III solution did work for a while - but that was already a while ago. Maybe he has found a new solution meanwhile which works continuously. You might ask him personally.
If you are interested, write me a personal message please and I will send you his address.

Thanks for the information, it kind of confirms what I thought might be the case. I suspect the cost of any repair (I'm in Australia) would far outweigh the cost of another body.

I do have a couple of RXs and 167MTs which keep me occupied.

Cheers, and thanks again.
