Olympus posts E-300 firmware v1.3

Olympus has today posted firmware version 1.3 for the FourThirds DSLR the E-300. The update provideds enhanced exposure metering stability, adds a button timer, two new underwater scene programmes and changes the start-up process for future lenses.

Is it true that you must pay $19.99 to update olympus "master" before you can do a firmware update?

No, it is untrue. Just update using the Master menu.

I can not find the correct menu... I have unloaded the software that came with the evolt on cd because it really is unusable to me... do I need to reload it to update?

Schu,

To update the firmware, open Olympus Master, click on "Browse Images" and then, under "On-line Services," choose "Update Software" and follow the instructions and prompts.
