Printer Advice

I am buying a Minolta Dimage Elite 5400II for scanning colour/BW negs and colour slides, and need a printer that will do them justice. I like the look of the newest Canon printers in terms of sharpness, but they don't seem to print neutral B/W images. The HP printers look good in this respect. Any advice or experiences with different printers?
