Problem mounting Zeiss 45mm on Contax G2

This past weekend I started having a problem mounting my 45mm on my G2. It does not click into place, so that even though it looks like it's attached, it comes off if I turn the aperture ring clockwise (from behind the camera - towards f/2).

I might add that it will not mount with the red dots aligned, but will mount, in the half-hearted way described, with them slightly mis-aligned. Other lenses mount fine.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Hi Bernard I have suffered the same problem with a new 45mm lens, I have returned it to Contax to get it checked out. Be careful or you will damage the electrical contacts on the back of the lens.

My problem seems to be the same one Chip had. The red dot was not properly positioned under the wide tooth, as it should be (look at another lens) so the whole thing was off. In fact the aperture ring did not work properly.

A local repairman fiddled with it and got it back in line.

The critical point, according to him, is that this can happen if you are not careful to turn ONLY the knurled ring when mounting it or dismounting the lens.

So remember what your mother told you and be careful or you'll break it!
