Proper useage with Contax Zeiss 28/2.8

Having just bought a 28/2.8 I am flirting with using it for b/w shots. Landscapes, street, people as well as general photography will be considered. My question is that in using a red filter, is it not recommended to use a lens hood as well? Is it necessary? Is it wrong to use a UV filter as well as a red filter?
