Jean-Christophe Dichant, photographer trainer and creator of the Nikon Passion website here, had invited readers of his daily newsletter to join him last Friday at the Quai de la Photo here in Paris . That's how I discovered this superb venue, on the banks of the Seine right next to the National Library's François Mitterrand site. Access is free, including to the beautiful exhibition room (currently featuring works by Kate Barry). There is also a specialized bookshop, and it is the starting point for cruises on the Seine with its beautiful little boats. Last but not least, it is an ideal place to meet up and discuss photographic matters. You can enjoy a drink or a meal in a pleasant atmosphere.
A stone's throw from Quai de la Photo is Petit Bain, here.
You might think (wrongly) that this is a place dedicated to the first steps of novice photographers. The nearby Joséphine Baker swimming pool suggests a more literal interpretation, equally misleading since it is a floating cultural space with a concert hall.
