Sensor Problem

I have a reasonably new Canon 1Ds Mark II upgraded from a 1D Mark II. If I take off the cover and look through the eye piece instead of seeing a white rectangular sensor I see circular distortion (black) at the corners resembably barrelling. Regardless of the lens I put on I see this corner distortion on all images. Is this something anyone has seen or described previously. Appreciate your expertise.

David, I'm not sure how this kind of upgrade would be possible, and if somebody tried to perform such Frankesteinian surgery it would not surprise me if the results were, how could I put it ...
Frankesteinian?

DJ,

Thanks for the post and my poor use of the English language. The camera wasn't physically upgraded. I sold my Canon 1D Mark II and bought a new Canon 1Ds Mark II from Prestige Camera in NYC.

David, actually it's more of a misunderstanding on my part. Going from a 1D MkII to a 1Ds MkII can definitely be stated as an upgrade. I get you now though. I have to say I have not experienced anything like that in my 1Ds MkII. Maybe you could post a couple of images we can look at?

Can I ask what lenses are you putting on the camera? There are some lenses that were made specificly for the smaller sensors and if you try to put them on a full sensor then you'll have the barreling effect.

Hi Mary Lou,

Yup I've now been educated as to the horrors of Prestige. The camera was received in correct packages with all seals intact. But who knows they could have dropped off the back of a truck for all I know. Thanks for the input.
