Using Digital Cameras with no battery charging

I am trekking in the Himalayas next year for 4 weeks and there will be no electricity during this. I need to use disposable batteries to power the camera and some storage HDD where I can transfer images to. Maybe rechargeable batteries using solar powered charger, but weight critical since c&ing. Any one got any ideas? Otherwise will have to use 35mm and scan later.

Ummm... Isn't this why they make Leica RFs? Batteries, yuck. Unless you are taking an SUV on your trek (more yuck), get a fully manual camera like a manual Nikon or Vivitar or Leica M6 or a K1000, carry a small lightmeter and two lenses, a 35mm and a 21 mm. You don't want to be carrying a laptop and 20 batteries for various things and a solar charging station.

Don't take disposable batteries unless you plan to pack them out with the rest of your garbage.

The latest trend in zero impact treking is to leave no human organic waste. They have tubes for carrying out such matter.....
Regarding cameras, I'd suggest an FR-3 or one of the S models. I'll personally vouch for the FR3s' reliability having used one to take a favotite landscape shot when the batteries on my 159 quit due to cold weather.
Looking to the future there are several companies developing minature methane based fuel cells. Very lightweight, virtually no pollutants outgassed and able to power portable equipment longer than current rechargable battery systems.
But thats the future.....
Perhaps there are hand crank generators that would fill the power requirement?
