What does "T*" stand for?
 
Hello Sam,

T* is the Zeiss name for antireflection coating. T means "transparency".
It was invented by Dr. Alexander Smakula in 1935 at the Zeiss plant in Jena.
In 1972 the coating got improved. Since then it's named T*.
