Hi everyone, just in case you are interested, Ffordes web site is showing a New 55 f1.2 for sale in their second hand section. Not something that comes up every day...

By the way, keep an eye on ebay as I'm likely to sell one of my 85 1.2's and one of my 75-210's shortly.

Oh, and the 55mm is yours for a mere £4,500.

Cheers,
Graham

Thank Graham for telling us.

4500 pounds is a bit too much asked by Ffordes. It is about USD7890, or HKD61221. I wish to have that lens but not that badly.

Hi folks,

I believe only 10 of these entered the UK when originally released, so this is a very rare find, although the price still seems high. Ffordes usually have very good prices, but I think they are starting to over estimate some Contax prices for some of the scarcer items. This lens may well have originated from R G Lewis in london, I saw a NEW 55/1.2 in their shop last year...I do know Ffordes have been buying up all remaining Contax stocks from as many UK Contax dealers as they can.
Cheers Steve.

Hi Steve, you are right about the rarity - what you may not know is that another member of this group bought another 55 1.2 though Ffordes a couple of weeks back - lucky so and so...

Hmmm, that leaves 8 unaccounted for....

Oh and I forgot to mention that Ffordes will be listing a 21mm, 200 f2 and 300 f2.8 in the next week or so...and they're great people to do business with.

Hi Graham..

Are you saying Ffordes have had TWO of the 55/1.2 in the last month? by the way, I am after a 28/2 for use If you have one tucked away? mail me direct If you could.
I bought two 28/2's last year, one from MXV which had to go back as it had marks on the rear element they had not seen and also had to return one bought from Quiggs as this had the rubber focus grip loose and rotating by itself on the barrel..I have seen more than one ex&le like this. Any help finding one most welcome.
Cheers Grumpy Steve.

That's exactly what Graham is saying.

Cheers from a "lucky so and so"

Matt..

Hope you have hid the price from the wife..or maybe removed a nought from the end..

Cheers Steve.

Concerning the problem of rubber grip rotating by itself on the barrel, I encounter it several times. It happened in 35 1.4 once. Sometimes it can happen in the aperture ring as well. The rubber was cemented to the metal surface when they leave the factory.

It is easily fixed, put a few drops of rubber cement or contact cement between the rubber and the barrel, I mean the one people use for the repair of shoes, yellowish with paint thinner like smell. After drying, it feels like rubber. Do not deny keeping the lens because of this problem, especially in these days when Contax lenses are rare.

Hi Joseph, Thanks for that....I do think this forum is damn good...people are so helpful.. Cheers Steve (Grumpy)
