I am currently at home recovering after surgery and can't go out with my camera, so I decided to go back through some unprocessed photos from last year.

This one was taken at a favourite regional town named Cootamundra, 430 rail kilometres from Sydney on the main south line which is about half way to Melbourne. The railways station dates from 1877 and is a junction with a regional line that runs west mainly for grain haulage. It's a good place to photograph trains.

This is the inter-city XPT which runs twice a day from both Sydney and Melbourne (i.e. two trains departing from each city daily) . The XPTs trains are now about 40 years old and well overdue for replacement. The new inter-city train sets are being delivered to the operator now and should be running later this year after testing, so these old trains will be retired.

Great pic as always! Were you a passenger? Or maybe on a road trip (driving) with a special stop in Cootamundra for photo-taking? Comeng/ABB. Your "2016" is on the Wikipedia page! (Link below) I hope your surgery was a good one (technically-speaking). :) Best wishes for a speedy and positive recovery!

Thanks John. I went there for a few days on a road trip to take train photos in and around the region. I'm overdue for another trip.

Thanks, the surgery was by choice to fix my nose and sinus which has been poor for some time, bad breathing when I'm in bed (apnoea etc). The surgery was rhinoplasty, septoplasty and turbinate reduction. It's been quite painful but getting better slowly each day. Still wearing a splint and I have stitches inside my nose that should come out tomorrow when I see the doctor. Fingers crossed!
