Contax 159MM

if he uses yashica 109 mp or older 108 he can use his ae-lenses in program-mode, although the meter-reaction is a bit different. in contax -mm-lens-combination system measures until the last moment. all this has nothing directly to do with ttl-flash. its no accidental that rbt-3d-camera-builder has choosen this affordable yashica-model for twinnning(syamesing two cameras for 3d-stereo pursposes. its simple and effective, powerful with zeiss-lenses.

Hi there
Just bought a 159mm yesterday, 200$, including a brand new Contax shoulder strap. Works and feels like a almost new camera. I really like the small and light body, the AEL, with the setting beeing constant even if you change the aparture, and the 60 sec. automatic exposure. I'm really looking forward to use it. I have the 167 but find it too bulky to carry every day, but this 159mm and my 28 will put my RICOH GR1s on the out-shelf.
I really like the positive surprises you can get by buying 15-17 year old gear and find it working like it was new.

regards

Ole,
Someone sent me your web link via email a few days ago for "inspiration" and I must say I was inspired. I just saw your post here and wanted to say thanks. Quite an impressive gallery, very much my kind of pictures. I'll be waiting for some more when you put that 159mm to use ;)

i also had the 159mm before the aperture-lever stuck. maybe it needed some oil(no revision,of course). be aware of a special switch, which must be replaced after every 8 years, depending how often it is used(i guess). i can alos only guess that the switch controls ttl-flash. mine was broke and camera did not measuse flash-output correctly. 50% of shots were underexposed. so if you shoot important event use a flash-meter or you can check if flash has only short duration time when shooting into the dark. the 159mm was my last contax before i bought rtsIII. i loved it because i coudl take away motordrive. i would like to have a new 160mm with spotmetering and flashmeter(rtsIII). it should also have integrated bubble-level.

I TRIED USING MY CAMERA BUT ITS SHUTTER GOT STUCK AT 125 . I TRIED CHANGING IT TO DIFFERENT NUMBERS BUT IT WONT WORK. I STILL SEE THE SHUTTER SPEED AT 125 IN THE VIEWFINDER EVEN IF I SET THE SHUTTER DIAL TO A DIFFERENT NUMBER.WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE PROBLEM WITH IT.BEFORE KNOWING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM I SHOT 24 EXPOSURE AND THE PICTURE TUNED OUT UGLY .IT GAVE MY PIC A YELLOWIS CAST AND SOME OF THE PIC HAVE MOTION BLUR.IS THIS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT YOU HAD BEFORE .PLUS TLA30 FLASH HAVE SOME CORROSION IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT WILL IT DAMAGE MY CAMERA THANKS.
