Contax Aria vs Contax ST

And just to reinforce Austin's astute questions .... where are these complaints being reported?

Cheers, Kyocera Kid

Thanks for all opinons and advices. I've bought ....... 167 MT. Reason ? First: Price - 280$. Second - generally speaking everything I need (especially spot, weight). Once again thanks for help.

"the Aria is a fragile camera and not as tough as the other Contax branded bodies."

I own a Aria and a RX. The Aria is a very lightweight and durable machine. I did use it in the Sahara and the high Himalayas, during travelling and extreme mountain climbs. From the heath to the extreme cold. Sand, dust, ice, rain.
It seems that I am the weekest part. When it is to cold to make photographs (because of the risk of frostbite) the aria does operate without any problem. If it would be a fragile body, it should have broken down already a long time ago.

Superb pictures Melvin.
Did you say a while ago that you use a 45mm Tessar pancake lens quite a lot? I was thinking of getting one and wondered. Your pictures are very bright and clear. If so is it fiddly for focussing?
Best wishes,
John

FWIW I've had my Aria w/135mm lens hit asphalt after a drop of about two feet with only cosmetic damage (a few ding marks). Works perfectly. Not proof of anything I suppose, but evidence that it can shake off some amount of abuse. A metal-clad camera would have dented significantly.
