Hey Guys:
This will be my last post on this forum. I will hate to leave this forum and share the wonderful wealth of knowledge that its users have, but, fortunately for me I just became a Contax ND EX-USER.
That’s right!!! I went back to New York and my dealer took the camera back with its lenses and accessories for a full refund. I bought thru him the AMAZING Canon EOS 1DS, a 24-70 L f2.8 and a 70-200 L IS f2.8 + 1.4X Extender and the speedlite 550EX. What can I tell you?? The camera is amazing and the lenses superb, but most important of all, it works flawlessly out of the box, the battery is amazing and the custom and personal functions extremely detailed and well explained, the software well presented and functional, but I won’t go about explaining the features of this camera since they are very well expressed in hundreds of reviews.
What I would like to tell you is that the right way for us to approach problems with equipment is thru our dealers. I have been buying and selling equipment from my dealer for ages and he understands that a happy customer is a returning customer. As he very well said, Contax won’t listen to me, but they will listen to him.
(....)
I know from him, that some members of this forum are/where his clients; Ken Pops, Marc Williams (G2 Black). It is not an indiscretion, but he monitors this forum constantly at my suggestion, since he could not believe the problems this piece of junk has.
Marc, I am truly sorry for your experience, but unless you are a lawyer, a lawsuit is not worth it. It will cost you more money than you spent and it will be like beating a dead horse. On the other hand, go to your dealer and ask for a full refund/store credit. He can return the camera to Contax for a full refund and he will understand your frustration and provide a solution for you. He will understand that you are his bread and butter and that he has to take care of you. If he does not, then take your business to a reputable dealer like him, who is used to dealing with professionals and advanced amateurs.
With these thoughts I leave this forum as an active user. If any one wants to contact me, please do so at

And remember, great glass is only useful if you have working equipment to use it.
Best regards to all,
Martin.
