Contax ND

I met blake from contax at pma when i went to the booth and demanded to = see somebody from contax japan who works with the ND. I talked to blake extensively about the three issues 1) power /battery 2) buffer 3) = software. also asked what does does think about the camera (ND). he said that = zeiss was disappointed of slow sales. on the three issues, i was very firm, intense and passionate about my 7000 camera that does not deliver. he repeatedly said, u the customer is the king. he acknowledged the = problems (more or less) and said there are no solutions at this point but the = options are (roll the fixes to new camera, take all the cameras back or fix the stuff). i still demanded to talk the japan folks and he said if you = write me a letter, i will deliver the letter via contax usa president to japan.=20

I will be traveling till the first week of april and when i get back = home, i want to send this letter to them. who on this list wants to be included = as part of this letter. all interested, please send me an email to msadat@kiakki.net with the subject "contax letter" and i will coordinate = the process. may be this the official way of letting them know , you need to = fix the problem

I want to love my Contax digital since I have always loved Contax and Zeiss but my answer is Canon. Contax is stuck in the past. The only way they can rectify the matter is to upgrade the whole system and it should be pretty cheap or free. We also should not have to jump through hoops ..just bring the camera in for a new one.
Is this the beginning of the end for Contax ?

> John,

How on earth do you say "Contax is stuck in the past". First full frame CCCD 35mm format digital. Great lens selections. Good flashes. NAM1 adapter for med format lenses. Name one other manufacturere that offers that feature.

Yes, the digital has some problems, but it also creates some great shots. All the digitals I have been reading about have some shortcomings. And yes, even 35mm film based cameras (including Canon and Nikon) have some shortcomings.

"Rectify the matter is to upgrade the whole system". What on earth are you talking about?

michael.

I must agree with Michael. Contax not only beat the rest of the market wit= h the first full frame CCD, they did it by about six months. Every knows (= at least should know) every time any manufacturer that comes out with new t= echnology their will always be issues. It=E2=80=99s not only true in new t= echnology but the world as a whole. For ex&le when the P-51 Mustang came= out it was underpowered and no one wanted it. North American then updated= the engine and increases the fuel capacity. Now not only is it now consid= ered the best fighter plane in history but also it has been argued that the= P-51 was solely responsible for winning WWII. Be patient, you will see th= ings improve. If every manufacturer waited for their product to be perfect= we still be waiting for the first digital camera.

Sincerely Gavin

John,
I cannot agree with your comments. Canon Nikon Kodak Fuji Sigma have all come out with SLR but none with Full Frame CCD. Contax was the first and still is the only one to provide the Philips CCD as used in all the Medium Format Backs.
Kodak with the 14Mp has still got problems and after Photokina 6 months ago have still not got it on the market. Results shown at the Focus show in the UK were as good if not better and larger that those on the Canon stand. Contax had live demos with Ilford printing A0 prints from the Epsom 7600 printer. This was live and what I Call a real test. Contax has a superb product and yes like all first generation cameras there is room for improvement but all other manafactures also got it wrong the first time.
Go and have a live demo as Contax did in the U.K. then compare price performance and sales knowledge and see who is the best.

The new Canon 1Ds is full frame.

The Kodak 14n is also full frame. And it is out on the street this week.

However, it should be noted that both the Kodak and the Canon are CMOS sensors.

The Contax ND is still the only full frame CCD.

marc ccd or cmos, should be on no consequence since they do the same = thing=20
