Hi all,

Due to the lack of online, scanned manuals on the Contax RX, I decided to do a couple of videos about the functions and features of this great camera. Hope they're helpful:

RX Manual

Dirk,

I offered to send a PDF of the RX manual to you some months ago. Never got a reply. I can send it if you provide an email address.

I have provided this PDF to several members of this forum when they asked by PM.
It is not copyrighted.

Hi Ron,

9MB ist definitely too much. We also have to think at those Contax users, who have no high speed internet available.

Do you have a chance to reduce the filesize at 400KB maximim within the PDF creator?

Contax RX Manual

It is already a PDF. If I use Winzip, it comes down to 8.79MB. None of the Contax manuals that I have are less than about 1.6MB. The RX manual is more extensive that most.

If you want to have a go at it, I can upload it to my web site and send you a link.

I just purchased a Contax RXII and it’s in beautiful condition. Have just run a film through it and all seems good. I have downloaded a manual from M. Butkus but it’s in 2 parts and the 2nd part is for an RTSIII. I need to know what the custom functions are, so if anyone can help, I’d be very grateful. Not sure whether this forum is active but I’d like to have a copy of the PDF manual if possible?

Hi there. Congratulations on your purchase, the RXII is a sweet camera.

It was a cheap alternative to the RX when it was introduced; it lacked the digital focus assist feature that was at the heart of the RX's specification. As I recall, one of the nicest things about the less sophisticated mkII version was a brighter viewfinder image than its elder brother. I only used the RXII for a month (that was almost 30 years ago) but if memory serves, it was essentially the same as the RX so it's probable that looking at the RX user manual will inform of you of the limited custom functions available.
