Contax RXII

Hello Everybody, I have the Rx and the Aria. I love them both. I felt the RX was made for my hand from the moment I first held it. Mr.Whiting is correct, you grip the RX. I got the Aria this past summer because of the sweltering days we had in NYC. It became a bit of a grind to carry around the RX with the CZVS 35-135 zoom. With the Aria (about half the weight of the RX) I use my primes or the CZ 28-70 zoom, making for a much easier haul in hot weather. The only demur I might have with the Aria is that it does not balance well with the larger Zooms, therefore I wouldn't just want to have the Aria, as great a camera as it is, without the RX. The RX is very well balanced no matter what lens is on it. I have given up expecting to find the one machine that does it all. For me the AX did not feel comfortable in my mitts, it felt too fat. yet, I am sure, from what I have read about it it is a wonderful camera.

>I wish they made ONE camera body that did it all.

If they did, how on Earth would I persuade my wife that I really do have to have another Contax body?

Alex

if you have a balance problem you can eitheruse weights under the camera or use winder/motordrives(with grip or without)of the contax of yashica cameras. 159mm,139, yashica fx 103(has ttl-problem with some newer or more professional flashes), rts, rtsII, yashica fr.

According to the local importer of Contax, the RX II probably won't be available in the Netherlands.

Does anyone know if the RX II will be available in other European countries like Belgium, Germany or the United Kingdom, and if so, from which date?

I have put this question by mail to Kyocera in Germany and the United Kingdom but so far they didn't give me an answer.

Another question is if the RX II features other improvements regarding to the RX than the brighter viewfinder and the 2 second selftimer. If this is not the case, would it be a good idea to buy a RX instead?

Best regards.

Douke

Thanks.

The marketing department of Kyocera Germany however recently let me know that it isn't planned to introduce the RX II to the German market.

Finally, I've tried the RXII and can confrim that there is NO mirror pre-release for its 2-sec self-timer. What a dis-appointment! It's so simple but Contax didn't make it.

As far as I know it is not planned to put the RXII on the austrian market due to a higher price than the old RX. If this comes true, some should ask weather Kyocera is still interested to keep Contax alive in Europe.

Regards
Wolfgang

I'm really fed up by all this protests about Kyocera not importing the RXII to .

Why should Kyocera import the RXII to any country in which there's still tons of stock of RX Bodys? AND the RXIIs only "advantage" against the RX is a 20% brighter Viewfinder, which is nothing!

It makes a f2.8 lens look like a f2,4 lens in the viefinder! What a difference! I claim you won't notice the difference!

So this has nothing to do with not having interest, but with protecting the dealers and their stock. It's actually a wise decision because it makes dealers assured, that they still can stock Contax and somehow sell the stock.

Mike

Does anyone know if the RXII will be available
in the US?

Thanks,

Paul
