Contax Tix

What is the current opinion on the Tix as a true Contax compared to the 35mm SLRs, 645, G and T series? It carries the Zeiss lens but does it offer images on par with the others?

I have both Tix and T3 and am regret to inform you that Tix by far has NO match with the T3 in terms of picture quality (mainly on sharpness of images), may be due to the limitation of APS film. Nevertheless, as compared to my previous APS camera- Minolta Vectis 3000, Tix offers much richer color, better contrast and more precise on auto focus. I personally just don't think Tix really belongs to other groups of the Contax family as the APS does not match with the basic standards of the 35mm film.
So, if you just enjoy watching the 'grand' formats of prints (i.e. H and P formats) like I do, and do not want to spend a fortune on the camera like XPAN, and if the price is right (I paid $390 on eBay for a 100% new one a month ago)then you may considering getting one. Won't hurt.
But if you are fuss about picture quality (again, mainly on sharpness of images) and get mad and upset easily, then you should completely forget about Tix and APS. I believe other APS cameras, like Canon EOSix should perform not any better than the Tix. Other users please share your view, thanks.

I have a Tix too, and I think it's the best Camera for APS at the Market. Bevore i had a Canon IXUS, but there was a great Problem with the flash. The Tix is pretty and little and has some features what others don't have. The APS-Film is very easy to archive.

I don't own a Tix, but have considered buying one. I love the drop in loading of my current Minolta APS, and its small size, and build quality, but am dissapointed with the lack of contrast/sharpness from the Minolta's mediocre lens.

I am fascinated with APS features, but I have noticed that for the price of the Tix I can get a T3. The T3 is about the same size, is capable of better quality images, is compatible with a much wider array of films, and can control an external flash with the SA-2 adapter.

Nolo contendere.

Finally, for the price of a Tix, you would think that Contax would throw in the mid-roll change feature. Mid-roll change is the one feature I wish I had when travelling, and the one feature that would most help me ignore APS shortcomings.

I may just wait until the TVS digital comes out to decide which medium will suit me best.

IMHO.
