Hi Ken, I urge you to not be to quick to dump the TVSD. I just ran a test of the Canon S50, and the TVSD using higher ISOs. The noise at ISO 400, which is the top speed for both cameras, is virtually identical. The only difference between the two that I can see is the Contax image appears sharper...which was demonstrated in the "Coffee Bean" test.
In fact, Irakly thinks the sensors in both cameras are made by the same manufacturer.
I think perhaps a P&S style is not for you and you require a SLR with a bigger sensor and faster lenses ( like a Canon 10D and f/1.4 glass.
You can't expect THAT much out of a little P&S, or why would anyone pay $7,500. for a Canon 1Ds?
I don't know, but the TVSD photo you did was very crisp and clean IMO. (neat photo,BTW). Frankly, I never set these digitals beyond ISO 200 unless it is absolutely necessary to get the shot.
