Daylight filter in front of prime

I myself have filters on all my lenses. But whenever i'm particularly intersted in a shot, I take the filter off, hold it in my hand, shoot and then put it back on. If Zeiss meant the lense to have a filter, wouldn't they just give you one with the lens? We are talking about the guru's of glass, aren't we?
 
If Zeiss had given a filter with your lens it would have cost $30 more!
