Any other photos from Death Valley National Park out there?

These were taken with a Pentax 67, 75mm or 105mm lenses and Fuji Provia 100. Scanned with an Epson 2450 a few years ago.

Thank you for posting theses two nature images .
The first one is just great . I love it very much .

Somehow , I do not get that brilliance into the images I post .
How do you prepare your images for posting ? ? ?

Hi Jurgen,

I just take the TIFF image I've worked up for making a print (which is what I'm mainly interested in doing with my photography) and then re-size it to 72dpi at whatever image size (inches, cm or pixels) that I want for the web and save it as a jpg file. That's it. Infrequently, I will add just a touch more sharpening to the jpg file.....never more than 50% at 1 pixel radius. I prefer to undersharpen than risk oversharpening.

Death Valley is high on my list of placed to go. It seems as if, evertime I'm in that area, it is July or August.

My postings don't look quite right either. Maybe one of the "posting' experts could outline general parameters for posting pics. of several different file sizes. Where to "cut corners" with image quality to get the best results for a given file size.

Hi Steve. I like your panoramic stitch! Can you tell me how you do it....equipment, software etc. Are you using a tripod head or rail that allows you to shift the camera left and right? I'm thinking I'd like to give this a try.

I don't do that many..The Zion was a quick one from the side of the road using a tripod and ball head. If you are shooting at infinity, parallax is not much of a problem. If you have CS3, it does very good pano's. (HDR is not good). If not, there are free trials of pano software such at pt-gui. Just set up your CWD on a tripod, level, and rotate with ~30% image overlap.

Another fun software, if you haven't tried it, is Helicon Focus, also available for free trial. It let's you do reconstructions using variable DOF. Great for Landscapes, (without motion). I posted a Helicon reconstruction in the "MACRO" section and one in "City, Still life,etc). I am just a hobbyist having some fun.*g*
