I have disabled e-mail notifications, yet I'm still receiving an email every time someone replies to a thread I'm watching.

You have to disabled in the forums/threads the email notification, in which they were turned on. Please read the FAQ. The newslettter has nothing to to with the emails from the forum. So you unsubcribed the wrong thing. Click on the link in my signature and follow the FAQ.
 
Thanks for your help. It sucks having to do that for every forum. Is it possible to create an option to turn off email notifications globally?
