Fontaine Médicis

The Fontaine Médicis is located in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris. It has a long history, and two faces. Let us start with a bit of theory (pardon my French )

The next photo shows the front face of the fontaine, with its optical illusion that makes the water appear to slope.

Acis, a young shepherd from Sicily, is in love with Galathée.

Galathée returns the favor.

They are surprised by the Cyclops Polyphemus, who is also in love with Galathea . So it is to be feared that this story will turn out badly.
