Very nice shot, i like it.

It will be much better if the shoes where spread out in different way and say one of the pair is upside down, this may give better idea about forgotten than both are tidy to each other.

I know, but you can be more creative or smart, take few shots as you found them and then rearrange the shoes for different aspect/composition/perspective.

I like the picture as well, maybe a the shooting position a little lower to give the horizon more space could have been interessting.
