The newly-developed 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS III APS-C sensor boasts the highest ever pixel count for an X-Series camera. Combined with an XF lens, it delivers images with a perceived resolution far greater than the number of pixels used. There are the first real life reviews out now from Fuji X-Shooters with pre-production odels.

The way the focus points are distributed over the area of the sensor is interesting. you can see this in this video:

There is an important part regarding the improvements of the AF of the X-Pro2 vs. XT-1 with FW4.0:

"...This is one area where Fujifilm has really been getting things right since summer of 2015. And now with the X-Pro2 they’re taking it a step further.

Autofocusing is fast! – just around 30% faster than the FW 4.0 equipped XT1. In addition to the speed it’s bloody precise. In normal light it nails my focus every time! In subpar lighting conditions e.g. complete darkness, of course it will have a tougher time. Thats just the way it works.

Fujifilm did also take extra measures to ensure good lowlight AF performance by further increasing the lowest focusable EV threshold from -1EV to -3EV. Let me just tell you this: It shows!...."

That sounds interestingt. What do you think?

we changed now the settings in the forum for PDFs.

If you click now on the PDF link, this will open a new browsertab and you can see than online the whole PDF document without beeing forced to download something onto your computer.

Of course you can still download the PDF on your PC. For this please rightclick with your mouse on the PDF name. A pop-up window will appear and you simple click on "save target...." See the screenshot below.

here is a quote from dpreviews first impression report regarding the AF performance of the Fuji X-Pro2:

"...The X-Pro2 we've been using has been running a series of obviously pre-production firmware versions, each offering improved performance and further refined behavior over the last. As a result, we can't yet comment on the camera's performance, since it may yet further improve. However, the sheer difference in focus speed between the fastest and slowest X-mount lens suggests to me that some of the lenses will never refocus fast enough to compete with the best of the X-Pro2's peers with respect to continuous AF. This means that, even if Fujifilm has managed to improve the focus tracking and eye detection, compared to previous models, the performance is still unlikely to be consistently competitive...."

mmmhhh.... that does not sound good if someone sees alternatives like a Nikon D500 (almost ame price) , if you want to shoot faster moving objects....
