Fun with the Ricoh GR

leaf1.jpg

A leaf first caught in a down pour of rain, followed by brilliant sunlight...the sight just demanded my ever-ready GR. This is with "macro" turned on...

That was mean!

I just posted in your introduction thread, that the forum punishement for not uploading an image immediately is a Leica Q sent to me. But you posted so fast, I even did not have the time to block your account...

So again, no Leica Q for me... :z04_menno:

Great shot. Great camera. Great idea. You can even see the reflection in the waterdrops. I just love the Ricoh GR!

Well! Sorry Dirk, just as I was about to leave I saw you'd created the new thread, so as the image was ready is was a straight up. I'm sure there will be other errors I make that you can punish me for!!! Yes I really love the punchy images of this little camera. And no sign of dust yet either - it just lives in my day bag all day, ready for action. So robust and effective.

do not sqeeze it in your jeans/trousers, than you will not have any dust issues. I never had issues with it, but I always put it in a very small "bag" of hama, in which is only space for the GR. So I can then through it even in a pocket of my jacket.

Dirk this is a great idea thanks. You will laugh, but at present I carry my GR in my shoulder bag wrapped in a small velvet black bag that Leica sent my M9 home in after a service once. I would send it to you by it doesn't have the Leica logo on, so worthless...haha :)

It is a very cheap one from hama. But you have to check for sizes, because they have so many different ones...

o.k., I paid around 10 € for it. I looked at the internet but it seems that they do not have that ugly design anymore. They now have even uglier designs :)

I tried first the original leather case for the Ricoh GR. But that one is badly designed. First it does not protect enough against rain or sand if you wear it on your belt the top easily gets off. Not secure enough for me.

I have not found yet any kind of small and good looking leather bag, that fits like a glove the Ricoh GR. Without any unnecessary additional pockets. Simple, sexy, elegant and protective.

It needs to open at the short side, because that is easier to carry on the belt, and it will not fall out as easy as the other way around. I had once a bad experience with my Contax TVS III and its original bag :(

Also the connection for the belt should be not "soft" as it is the case now with my hama bag, but rather "strong" like out of metal. Why? because then you can put it on your belt without taking off the belt. You simply open it and push it from top to down under you belt. Lowepro makes one like that (Lowepro Rezo 15).

  • NIKON CORPORATION - NIKON D50
  • 35.0 mm
  • ƒ/3.5
  • 1/60 sec
  • Spot
  • Auto exposure

Unfortunately only for a smaller size. The same model for teh size of the Ricoh GR has againa soft connection.

An update on my search: I found this on the UK HawksPhotoVideo.co.uk online store. Price about £10, it's gonna work for me...
