Hasselblad H 1,7x converter

Hello,

I`m new in this forum. My name is Kjell Tysdal and I am 52 years old and have been using hasselblad V since 1978, and still love it. Now using CFV 16Mp.I mainly photograph wildlife and nature, using from 30mm fisheye to 500mm tele-apotessar.
I have just bought H2 and P45+ with 4 lenses, and like that even better, since my vision is slowly getting poorer. Using HC 35,100, 120 and 210mm, and V lenses with CF adapter. Anyone have any experience with the 1,7x converter? Especially in combination with the 210mm, giving me 350mm. Or should I go for the 300/4.5? I am afraid using the converter will cause decreased IQ.

Welcome at hasselbladinfo forum Kjell.

I can only speak for converters used with V series lenses.
They are very good.
The 110/ becomes a wonderful 220/4 lens with a 2x converter.
Early converters called Mutar were made by Zeiss.
Later ones were called Hasselblad possibly made by Fuji in Japan

No need to distrust the H converter.
All H glass is very good.
By using a converter you keep MOD of the lens.
That is often an advantage over using longer lenses with larger minimum object distance.

H 1.7x converter

Hi Paul.

Thank you for your answer. I have the 2x Mutar, but only used the converter together with 350 and 500 mm and when I used film.
I will try the H 1.7x converter together with my HC 210. If not high enough image quality I'll go for the 300/4.5 (I have read that the 100/2.2 and the H1.7x converter is equal or better than the 150/3.2)

h 1,7x converter

Hello again.

I have now bought and tried the H 1,7x converter together with my 100/2,2 and 210/4. Together with the 100 mm it became an acceptable 170 mm, but was not up to my standard together with the 210 mm, giving a poor 350/6.8. The converter is up for sale, and I`ll go for the 300/4,5
