I've just ordered a Sigma DP1 and have joined the club. I have loads of Minolta Sony gear especially lenses (mainly Sigma) which I seem to collect like an addict! I also have a Ricoh digital compact camera which I bought to carry when my SLR gear was too heavy, which as I age seems to be most of the tiime. I hardly ever use the Ricoh because the IQ is disappointing compared with my SLR. I am dipping my toe in the water with the DP1 with a view to perhaps changing systems when the SD1 comes out. Every camera review that I read comments on the IQ which I think is stunning but then downgrades the camera because of usability; function controls etc. What I want are brilliant photos - my Sony A55 gives me the buttons and play functions. With my HiFi I want the best sound, not the prettiest, loudest, biggest shiniest equipment.

Welcome! It sounds like you will likely be happy with your choice.

I purchased a used SD14 late last year, and I am quite pleased. It does not have all the bells and whistles of my Canons. It does have superior image quality. Some of the "drawbacks" of the SD14 force me to anticipate and time my shots. I have to put more of me into the process. I haven't had this much fun since before autofocus.
