I looking for advice on a Contax 139.
The mirror will stick in the locked position and release when the lens is removed. It has all new foam and was supposed to have been tested. The only advice I can find is to clean the contacts between the permanent magnet and electro magnet that holds the mirror up. This is above my skill level and I cannot connect the lens removal with the magnets?

Hi Don,

welcome at Camera-info.com! Unfortunately, I have no solution for you for thsi problem. Search the Contax forum. Maybe someone else had already the same problem and found a solution. The search functionality in this forum does not show always all postings for a search term, depending on which search term you are using.

Best wishes

Thanks Dirk, I scoured the web for my model and the mirror problem and no luck. On the bright side, I bought the camera on Ebay from a camera vendor/repair shop and they will warrant it. A good source if anyone wants to know. He took care of a shipping credit immediately, always answered me in a few hours even on a Sunday, the camera was in great shape and now he warrants it's repair! His Ebay name is TRESCAMHOTMAIL.

On another note I can say that a Canon 70 D can take a fall and keep working fine. Mine tipped over, in Death Valley, on a tripod from 5' high, in the wind, in a self timed picture and then took the picture. The shot was in focus on the ground yet. I have since taken thousands of more shots no problems.

Don
